Jiaotong University was founded in Shanghai in 1896. Its main body moved to Xi’an in 1956 according to a decision issued by the State Council, and it was formally named Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) in 1959 As one of the first few universities, Xi'an Jaiotong University has allowed accepting Chinese Government Scholarship for international students since 1950. Presently, XJTU has trained over 3,000 international students from 30 countries and regions.
The majors, which most international students study, are Chinese language, Medicine (with some instruction given in English)), Management, Electronic and Electrical Eng., Computer Science, Mechanical Eng., Energy and Power Eng, Public Policy and Management, Life Science, Economics and Finance, and Traditional Chinese Medicine. In additions, XJTU offers scholarship for the excellent international students.
