Study Mandarin Chinese in Kunming

Kunming is the capital city of Yunnan province. It has a long history and was the ancient gateway of the famed silk road. Today Kunming is the heartbeat of Yunnan province, enjoying a reputation as one of China's most picturesque cites as well as being the most popular tourist destination in southwestern China. Like other major cities in China, Kunming combines an ancient and proud tradition with the dynamism of being a modern metropolis.

Kunming is the focal point of Yunnan minority culture. Some 26 ethnic minorities such as Yi, Bai, Miao, Dai, Hani and more inhabit the region. Each group has its own featured festivals such as the Torch festival of Yi people, the Golden Temple Fair and so on. Its varied and exotic habitats and places of historical interest can be found at major scenic spots such as Dianchi Lake, Stone Forest, the Village of Ethnic Culture, Grand View Pavilion.

Located in Lunan County 86 km southeast of Kunming, it is known as the "First Wonder of the World". "It is a waste of time without being in the Stone Forest while visiting Kunming" is a local saying to express the deep love of the local people toward this world wonder. The quintessential karst landscape makes every visitor lost in wonder.
